Good day, my name is Adam and I am the craftsman and service provider behind Preservation Timber.

I spent a large part of my youth outside, crawling through the local woods just outside of NYC. Woodworking with my father was a series of lessons, each with benefits far beyond the actual product. I learned that life is a process, what you add to your world today can blossom into something beautiful tomorrow.

I believe solid wood furniture is a fantastic way to get the most out of your home life. Each piece is unique to both itself and its purpose. But wood is so much more than just a thing to sit on or store things in, wood is so important to us as a species. It helped us harness the power of fire so we could cook meals and warm our bodies. Wood kept us safe with shelter, comfortable with chairs, and has even changed the way we travel through the invention of wheels. Solid wood has a feel that is so familiar to us because it has been a part of our lives for generations, it is part of our world.

As our society has grown, we’ve moved away from this foundation as the pounding of various industrial revolutions roared into our new world. Many feel a loss of our connection to natural elements. Now how we experience our planet suffers from the decrease of stewardship that we were once compelled to practice.

We, as a people, have the ability to choose sustainability. To say no to disposable products and to use natural materials respectfully, wisely, and carefully.

As a person who appreciates craftsmanship, I find example after example of items built long ago that owe their longevity to the quality of their material and the labor used to create them. Part of what makes items last is a deep understanding of their material and how they handle what type of tasks they are asked to complete. Solid wood has so many attributes that create a class all by itself. Each piece of solid wood is unique. Characteristics vary wildly among both the species and the individual. Wood can be refined to so many forms and finishes. We use maple for the best functioning butcher blocks, cherry is often a choice for our cabinetry, pine can captivate us with its warm hue along a wall or its comforting fragrance when freshly worked. We all know the expression, “strong as an Oak”, the oak rightfully earned that title.

At Preservation Timber, we pair sustainably sourced materials and thoughtful craftsmanship to create a finished product for future generations.

Preservation Timber is the result of over 20 years of trade work, multiple business ventures, and lots of life lessons all stretched across many US states. I look forward to collaborating with you to create something unique, custom, and sustainable for your home.

Thanks so much for your time-

Adam
