In our homes, we pull back chairs to have a seat at our dinning room table. Rock our babies to sleep as our parents and grandparents have done. Shelf a book with its companions until we need further reference. Wood furniture supports us through our day to day, lets give a little time back to support those pieces.

A word on Veneer- a large amount of so called “solid wood” furniture has had a veneer applied to various external surfaces. This may indicate that some furniture may need a bit more love to refinish.

We must first identify the furniture that has the most value to us beyond the tangible.

A Plan

Once we have selected the piece of furniture that we would like to restore, it is important to identify what end results we will strive for.

Be aware, time can put a unique and irreplaceable stamp on a piece of wood.

Some of the many considerations for how we treat furniture is how we will finish/treat the newly restored wood surface. We must look at its original state, what we will have after repairs and alterations and what sentiments we may want preserved.
